Inoculating and planting truffle trees
Today was a very special day.
We inoculated our own truffle trees at an event for members of the Swiss Truffle Association. It is a special feeling to personally lay the foundation for future truffles. Now, it’s all about patience.
The saplings will stay in their pots until autumn so that the roots can bond with the spores. An invisible process begins. After that, they will be planted in nature. If all goes well, we will be able to harvest the first truffles in 6 to 10 years.
Nature takes time. That is exactly what makes it so special.
After six months, the time had finally come. We planted our inoculated saplings. Tuber aestivum and Perigord truffles have now found their place. Now we have to wait again and hope that we can harvest our first own truffles in 4 to 7 years.
